Dr Philip Smith (Uro-Doc) is a highly experienced Urological and Robotic Surgeon. He grew up in Brisbane's southside where he was educated at Coorparoo State Primary School and Cavendish Road State High School before attending QUT and UQ for his Bachelor of Medical Science and Medical/Surgical degrees. He is a Royal Australasian College of Surgeon trained specialist, starting initially in General Surgery (Trauma/Transplant) before completing Urology and Robotic (Da Vinci) Surgical training in Brisbane and San Jose, California by 31st December 2014. Dr Smith has been employed by Queensland Health for 25yrs. He has served as a Senior Surgeon in Urology at the Cairns Public Hospital for over a decade and upon retiring from public service in September 2025 left the service with the lowest urology infection and death rates in the State. Dr Smith had previously been in a large multi-disciplinary private practice as a urological and robotic surgical specialist for over 10 years before deciding to move out on his own to focus more on individual patient care and outcomes. Dr Smith has also served as an Infantry Patrolman and Medical Officer in the Australian Army Reserve.

Veronica has been Dr Smith's primary scrub nurse for over 10 years. She is now working fulltime in his private rooms as his practice nurse and is highly experienced with over 30 years of nursing under her belt. Veronica has also served in the Royal Australian Airforce.

Lauren is our Practice Manager supporting URO. She is a very successful businesswoman having owned/directed multiple businesses for over more than 11 years. She was a finalist in the Cairns Businesswoman Awards in 2017. Lauren is completing her Bachelor of Laws in 2025 through JCU and is very excited to be leading the administration and management of URO.
